This session will highlight practical tools to improve the level of accessibility of tourism infrastructures, products and services. Until 2021, our sector lacked globally agreed concepts on how to create, manage and promote accessibility, given the absence of standards. With the publication of the UNE Standard: ISO 21902 Tourism and related services – Accessible tourism for all – Requirements and recommendations, the sector now has a standard that helps all actors in the value chain to carry out very concrete actions to make it possible to enjoy tourism on equal terms. In this session, the speakers will discuss the major opportunities of standardisation and the challenges that the sector will face in the future, due to important socio-demographic and economic changes that have an impact on accessibility and the design of tourism services.
