Making the PEFCR Work for Hotels: From Environmental Footprint Rules to Operational Tools

The Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules for hotel accommodation provide the sector with a harmonised method for measuring and communicating the environmental footprint of accommodation services. However, their successful implementation will depend on whether hotels can translate detailed life cycle requirements into usable operational data systems. This panel will update the industry on progress to date with the draft PEFCR for hotel accommodation and discuss what will be needed to support practical implementation across the sector. It will bring together perspectives from the European Commission, HOTREC and applied research to consider data readiness, usability for different types of hotels, alignment with existing reporting practices, and the emerging tools and approaches that can help hotels operationalise the PEFCR in practice.
