José Mariano López Urdiales

Jose is an engineer, patented inventor and pioneer in NewSpace in Europe. In 2009 he founded Zero 2 Infinity to make access to Space affordable and sustainable. His seminal work has sparked a renaissance of high-altitude ballooning with applications ranging from telecommunications to Space Tourism. Zero 2 Infinity is the most active player in Europe in Near Space flights with over 50 missions for customers such as Airbus. He’s convinced that frequent and low-cost access to Space can be achieved without relying on new technologies by leveraging what already exists in a different way. Prior to building Zero 2 Infinity he was involved in some of the most demanding aerospace challenges including algorithms for Boeing Phantom Works, cryogenic tank design on the Ariane 5, and performing microgravity experiments for the European Space Agency. He graduated in Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and got his MBA at the College des Ingenieurs in Paris.
